Sofia Margarita Vergara Vergara grew growing up in Barranquilla. Margarita Davila Vergara is her mother. Her father, Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, provides cattle to the meat industry. She is the mother of five brothers and sisters. She was a student at a private bilingual school, which taught Spanish as well as English. She then went on to complete a pre-dentistry course. Sofia, however, was found at sea by a professional photographer. This led to the possibility of her being spotted in various modeling roles as well as television appearances. She was 23 when she was a runway models. The travel show she hosted with her co-host was Fuera de serie (1996) from 1995 until 1998. This gave her exposure to the American public. The first time she appeared on television was in the 2002 crime-comedy Big Trouble. Gloria Delgado Pritchett was the role that made her a star in Modern Family, an American television series (2009). In the period 2010-2013, she won 4 Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress on an Comedy Series for this role. Sofia currently lives in Los Angeles with her son Manolo.
